Research Proposal 2009-04-02

A Hughes 500 applying water during aerial ULV training session.

A Hughes 500 in flight with pilot in training for onboard GPS, AIMMS-20 and Micronair 6539 nozzles in Greece.

At a height of 30 meters, using real-time
optimization strategies developed by
Bill Reynolds using the USDA AGDISP model, an
Air Tractor AT802 from Forest Protection Limited of
Canada, achieves a 2-10 times deposition rate from
conventional applications.

Using real-time meteorology and drift
optimization technology onboard the aircraft, this
aerial forestry application validated a 2-10 times
increase in deposition into the intended treatment
block.

Dr. Mickle,
Bill Reynolds and Derek Wright discuss the
optimization strategies currently being applied
onboard the aircraft.

In the spring of 2008, an aerial ULV
adulticide application was made in Grand Cayman by
MRCU (Mosquito Research & Control Unit) using their
Thrush 660, optimization offset strategies and the
AIMMS-20 onboard meteorology system.

In cooperation with A.S.N.F. of Greece,
Leading Edge Associates provided expertise in the
installation, training and support of the AVENTECH
AIMMS-20 meteorology system on a Hughes 500
helicopter.

Bill Reynolds was an invited guest speaking
during the General Session of the 2006 NAAA
Conference in Orlando Florida

Leading Edge Associates
provided guidance on site for the configuration,
installation and training of the Micronair AU-6539
atomization nozzles for use in aerial ULV
adulticiding applications.
