Impingers(Impactors, Spinners)
A more accurate and simple solution
The
design and specifications of the Impinger offered from Leading
Edge are the results of significant research, testing and
development by Mr. Mark Latham of Manatee County Mosquito
Control, Palmetto, FL and Dr. Jane Barber of Florida A&M, PHEREC
Lab, Panama City, FL.
The rotating Impinger is designed to sample the airborne movement of a spray cloud at a fixed location to provide datasets that include droplet densities, Dv.1, Dv.5, and Dv.9 values. The Impinger uses Teflon coated 1/8" acrylic or 1" glass slides that are attached in a vertical orientation on each end of a rotating arm, rotating at a known speed. The Impinger slide position maintains a rotating speed of 5.6 meters per second based on the motor rpm of approximately 600 rpm and a slide distance position from the center motor shaft location of 18cm. Pictured to the right is the Impinger.
